Overview of the area

The Rosneath Peninsula occupies a commanding situation on the banks of the world-famous River Clyde, just on the boundary between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland. Some eight miles in length, the peninsula is bounded on one side by the sheltered waters of the Gareloch and on the other by the fjord-like Loch Long, which reaches deeply into the hills and mountains known as the 'Arrochar Alps' and 'Argyle's Bowling Green'.

The peninsula itself is made up of gentle and rolling hills, with the communities of Cove, Kilcreggan, Rosneath, Clynder and Garelochhead nestling at their foot. All are linked by good roads, which along with the rail network and ferry services enable the traveller to quickly reach the surrounding towns of Helensburgh, Greenock, Gourock and Dunoon as well as the city of Glasgow.

Thanks to the unique location of the peninsula, Loch Lomond, Stirling and the Trossachs, and the Western Highlands are also within easy reach.
